What’s in it for me?
A month of writing! Fun writing prompts to take your humor to the next level. A community of writers doing the same thing (and the chance to connect, swap drafts, become writing buddies and star in your own late night talk show).
How does it work?
Your prompt for the day will hit your inbox around 10pm Central European time (4pm ET - 1pm PT). You’ll have 36 hours to finish the prompt, so 10am on day 2 (4am ET - 1am PT). 12 hours before your first prompt is due, you’ll get your second prompt.
Why is there an overlap?
Writers are based all over the world. I was inspired by the Literal Challenge’s approach (sign up for their awesome writing challenges) to make sure everyone has enough time between getting the prompt and sending it in.
When does it start?
You'll get your first prompt on January 31st. The challenge runs until February 28th, 2022.
I didn't learn about this until February 27th. Can I still sign up?
Sure.
Do I have to complete each writing assignment?
Each submission must be a full piece - but these are meant to be rough drafts, not pieces you’ve workshopped! Make sure the piece is complete. That might look like eight lines in a list piece or 800 words - it’s up to you! But get down a full rough draft before you send it in.
Do I have to follow the prompt?
No! The prompts are there to help you - especially if you’re stuck for ideas - but if you have 28 days worth of material you’ve been wanting to write and just haven’t found the time, use this sprint to write whatever moves you.
What do I get?
A sense of accomplishment! 28 full drafts that you can polish and send out to the comedy world. Community! And if you complete the challenge, a digital badge.
Does it cost money?
Nope.
Will you steal my ideas?
Nope. I’ll check to make sure you actually wrote something before handing out the elusive digital badge, and you have the copyright to all your work. This is not some weird writing Ponzi scheme.
Will you keep my work after the challenge is over?
Nope. My cloud storage isn’t that big.
Who is behind this sprint?
I’ve never heard of her.
That's not a question. But now you have! You can be her friend. She writes satire, screenplays, doodles on her iPad, and changes a lot of dirty diapers. She’s part of the comedy team at Greener Pastures.
